Patrols from 5r3rd Battalion head off into the nearby mountains after reports that anti-aircraft fire has brought down one of the enemy bombers.

Anti-aircraft gunfire keeps the enemy plane flying at great height above the city.

The Japanese have now raided Darwin, Broome, Thursday Island, Horn Island and Wyndham on Australian soil.
Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:25AM Three USAAF B-17 bombers arrive at Del Monte airfield on Mindanao Island in the Philippines to evacuate General Douglas MacArthur, his staff and family.
They head for Australia where MacArthur will take up his position as Supreme Commander of all Alllied Forces in the South-West Pacific. The appointment is officially announced in Australia today.
