In Burma Japanese forces capture Toungoo after long siege as Chinese 200 Inf Division withdraws north.

In Moresby a Japanese sortie of one bomber and three Zero fighters buzzed the airstrip and attacked a RAAF Fying Fortress but were driven off by RAAF fighters arriving from Horn Island.
