Sam Templeton leads B Coy 39^th Battalion (about 100 men) up the Track after waiting for 11 days at McDonald’s Corner for its supplies to catch up. It moves from Ilolo to Uberi, guided by Lt Bert Keinzle of ANGAU and helped by 120 Fuzzy Wuzzy carriers. Three soldiers drop out exhausted.

Warrant Officer Jack Wilkinson writes in his diary: "We left Ilolo carrying packs. What a weight. Uncle Sam (Templeton) in the lead. Arrived Uberi 1730hrs. Several chaps sent back here with fever and bad knees. Hell of a strain on knees on down grades. Had busy time patching feet."
